Once, long ago, these gardens were lush and green, with flowers of all colors covering the grounds, shrubs and delicate trees providing shade for Wizard d'Hiver and his wife. Now, everything is preserved in frosty beauty, frozen in time by a spell the Great Wizard cast in defense of his wife, but which caused her death, and ultimately his, as well.

Frozen Fountain

In the center of the garden you find this fountain, hundreds of icicles hanging from the tiered basins. When the Wizard saw the Golems he created to tend the garden about to kill his wife to have their Master to themselves, he reacted instinctively with a powerful spell. The Golems still stand here, frozen, though the ice that encases them is starting to show tiny cracks.

Spirit of Esmay

The spirit of Esmay d'Hiver silently floats above her frozen body. There is an enormous sadness in her eyes, not for herself, but for her husband. Realisation of what he had done caused the Great Wizard's mind to break long before she learned enough of her current state to be able to appear to him as she now does to you, in all her ethereal beauty.
