Thousands of mulberry bushes dot these plains, from single bushes to large stands of shrub and small trees. Crawling all over the mulberry bushes, enjoying the juicy green leaves, are countless caterpillars. The silkworms are crawling on every patch of foliage, eating away to grow, spin their cocoons, and provide the local farmers with their livelyhood: high quality silk.

Silk Farm

There are several of these farms in the area, all consisting of a number of buildings. In one the berries of the mulberry bushes are dried and saved for next year's planting, while in another thousands of cocoons are stored after the silkworms have made their transformation to butterflies. The main building is of course used to spin the silk into luxurious fabric.
