Description:
Peasants are the backbone of the economy in Eressea. They provide silver?, luxury items, new recruits and even food (if you are a demon? :-) )

What do they do?

  • Each peasant earns 11 silver? per week or more depending upon any castles? in the region. This may be taxed or collected by entertainers.
  • Peasants produce luxury items at a normal rate of 1 item per 100 peasants.
  • Peasants buy luxury items at a normal rate of 1 item per 100 peasants.
  • Peasants can be recruited to join your faction (except for demons?)
  • Peasants can be eaten (!) by demons? at a rate of 1 peasant feeding 10 demons?.

What do I need to know about them?

  • Each region can supply work for only a limited number of peasants. This will be different for each region.
  • The number of peasants a region can support is reduced by
    • trees (each takes the space of 8 peasants)
    • saplings (each takes the space of 4 peasants)
    • horses
  • The population of peasants in a region changes over time
    • New peasants are born,
    • Peasants may die of starvation or plague
    • Peasants may emigrate to neighbouring regions or immigrate from neighbouring regions (outdated - this is disabled)
    • Peasants may be recruited to join a faction
    • Faction units may be disbanded to become peasants
    • Peasants fear undeads and dragons. So some may escape to surrounding regions. Peasants may also be eaten by undeads and dragons.
    • Each (greater/longer?) battle in a region will also cost the lifes of some peasants.

How do I get more peasants?

  • Build bigger castles - this increases the wage and prosperity of a region and may attract immigrants. (outdated - this is disabled)
  • Use a Peasant Love Potion? to help them with their reproductive activities. Per 1000 peasants in the region you may use one peasant love potion per week.
  • Disband some units. A quick but expensive way to build up a population is to recruit peasants from one region and disband the units in another region. (This does not work for demons?). Try to find a friedly goblin for this, because goblins have the lowest recruit costs.
